Other Reality Baseball 2 07-16-1964 Home | | | Breaking News | | Wednesday, July 15th, 1964: 400 Homers for Mays It was a great day for Willie Mays, but not a good one for his San Francisco Giants. The 33-year-old center fielder reached a personal milestone with his 400th career homer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Milwaukee Braves, who came away with a 6-5 victory. Mays finished the day with 1 hit, 1 RBI and 1 run scored.
"Well, Ive conceded the fact that you cant will yourself to hit a home run," he said. "I tried hard for the last few days. It was getting to be embarrassing with the crowd standing up every time I came to the plate."
Career-to-date Mays has rung up a .310 average, played in 1697 games and collected 310 doubles, 101 triples and 400 home runs. | | Wednesday, July 15th, 1964: Aparicio May Depart Milwaukee "Don't believe everything you hear" was the word from the team's ownership group after rumors of Luis Aparicio wanting out of Milwaukee surfaced late yesterday.
