Friday, July 10th, 1964: 5 Hits for Athletics Alou
On top of the Kansas City hit parade today was Matty Alou. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Athletics to a 10-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

The sweet swinging center fielder told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."

The skipper of the Twins wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

M. Alou singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off T. Sadowski in the 7th.

In his 1964 season totals, Alou has 5 home runs, .328 BA, .375 OBP, 35 RBIs and 59 runs scored.
