 | Sunday, September 6th, 1964: Harvey Kuenn Gets Hit Number 2000 By going 3-for-4 in the Milwaukee 7-6 win over Cincinnati, Harvey Kuenn reached the 2000-hit mark. The County Stadium fans, friend and foe, burst into applause and Kuenn's teammates hugged and congratulated him on his achievement. "The guys began the countdown weeks ago," said the newest member of the 2000 Club. "I don't know who was more excited -- them or me." During his career Kuenn has notched 2001 hits and a .306 average with 88 home runs and 630 RBIs. |
