 | Tuesday, October 27th, 1964: NL Names Koufax Walter Johnson Award Winner The Walter Johnson Award for 1964 has been presented and the National winner is Sandy Koufax of Los Angeles. "It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Koufax. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Dodgers star told reporters. Koufax excelled with an impressive 23-8 record in 40 starts. In 303.2 innings he yielded 213 hits and 65 walks, while striking out 320 and compiling a fine 2.05 ERA. |
