 | Saturday, August 1st, 1964: Toronto's Johnson Collects July Batting Honor Stan Johnson put together a good July to earn the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Toronto officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Maple Leafs left fielder posted a .318 batting average with 8 home runs, 34 RBIs and 22 runs scored. This year Johnson is batting .340 with 14 home runs and 77 RBIs. In 100 games he has scored 74 times. |
