 | Saturday, August 1st, 1964: Jacksonville Starter Wins July's Pitcher Award Luis Tiant has made fans throughout Independence League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 6-0 record. No pitcher in the Alexander Cartwright League threw better in July, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today. In 7 starts Tiant compiled a 1.77 ERA, putting up a 6-0 record, striking out 62 and tossing 45.2 innings. In 1964 Tiant has compiled a 16-3 record with a 1.73 ERA. |
