Monday, April 19th, 1965: Blass Spins Shutout
Steve Blass of the Chicago Cubs was on top of his game today. He tantalized the St. Louis Cardinals with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 4-0 shutout.

In the postgame comments, the St. Louis skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Chicago hurler had 1 strikeout, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 1 hit in his complete-game effort.

Blass told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."

Saturday, April 17th, 1965: Cardinals, Veteran McDaniel Agree to Terms
Media analysts hailed St. Louis's signing of Lindy McDaniel, one of Other Reality Baseball 2's brightest stars, as a pivotal move.

While the deal is certain to raise a few eyebrows, McDaniel is expected to earn every bit of the $1,251,000 promised him over 3 years.

Thursday, November 19th, 1964: Deal: Stottlemyre for Maris
Fans in California woke up this morning to learn that their team had traded 23-year old starting pitcher Mel Stottlemyre to the St. Louis Cardinals. In return, the Angels will receive 30-year old right fielder Roger Maris.

In his career Maris has compiled a .258 batting average and collected 986 hits, 251 home runs and 730 RBIs.
