| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, September 1st, 1964: KMLL Best Hitter Award to Toronto's Lou Klimchock
Not known for his offensive prowess, Lou Klimchock set the league afire in August and took home the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League Batter of the Month award.
The Toronto third baseman posted a steady .356 batting average, 5 home runs, 24 RBIs and 15 runs.
For the year Klimchock is batting .306 with 147 hits and 10 home runs. He has scored 44 times and driven in 83.

 | Friday, August 28th, 1964: Carl Willey Sidelined for Season
The doctors have spoken and Carl Willey of the Toronto Maple Leafs didn't like what he heard. The 33-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Willey sustained his season-ending injury during the Omaha Dodgers game yesterday at Maple Leaf Stadium. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Toronto medical staff reported Willey had a torn labrum and would be absent from the lineup for at least 8 months.
So far this year Willey has 12 wins and 7 losses and a 3.50 ERA.

There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Jerry McNertney, the Toronto catcher, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League Player of the Week honors.
McNertney piled up 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 2 home runs and 4 RBIs while hitting .464.
This season McNertney is batting .266 with 52 RBIs, 61 runs scored and 9 home runs.
