| Breaking News |  | Monday, April 26th, 1965: Week's #1 Player Honored by ACL
Ty Cline stepped up to the plate in a big way last week and today he took home the Alexander Cartwright League Player of the Week honors.
The Jacksonville center fielder ripped opposing pitchers for 15 hits in 34 at-bats and 1 home run. He put together a sizzling .441 batting average as he knocked in 7 runs and scored 7 times.

 | Sunday, September 20th, 1964: Suns Star Wins Hurlers Award
23-year-old Luis Tiant of the Jacksonville Suns put together a good year in 1964 for such a young player. Tiant was named today as the winner of the Alexander Cartwright League Hurlers Award.
Tiant crafted an impressive 20-5 record and a 1.93 ERA. In 219.2 innings he allowed 171 hits, struck out 269, and walked 51.

 | Monday, September 7th, 1964: Rochester Wins 1964 Round 1!
The Red Wings are the class of the Independence League this year. They proved it with a 8-4 elimination win over Jacksonville today at Silver Stadium.
That victory gave Rochester the 1964 Round 1 title. They swept past the Suns in the series 3-1.
During the Kenesaw Mountain Landis League regular season Rochester registered a 85-45 record and finished first.
