Tuesday, September 1st, 1964: ACL Top Pitcher Award for August to Wilson
Earl Wilson will be bringing August's Alexander Cartwright League Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Seattle. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Wilson started 9 games, going 6-1 with 43 strikeouts in 52 innings as he compiled his 2.08 ERA.

His record this year is 14-8 in 34 starts and Wilson has a 2.52 ERA.
Friday, August 7th, 1964: 5-Hit Blitz by Smith
George Smith of the Indians was unstoppable in today's 10-2 victory over the Seattle Rainiers at Fairgrounds Field. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.

"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Spokane second baseman after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-5 will."

G. Smith hit an RBI single in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

In 1964 Smith is hitting .266, batted in 53 runs with 8 home runs and 63 runs scored.
Sunday, August 2nd, 1964: Rainiers Boswell Gone for Year
Dave Boswell of the Rainiers just might have to call it quits for the season. The 19-year-old Seattle starting pitcher received a possible season-ending injury against the Buffalo Bisons recently at Sick's Stadium. Boswell suffered a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament while throwing a pitch. The Rainiers medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 7 months.

In 1964 Boswell has a 14-6 record with a 1.48 ERA.
