| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, August 19th, 1964: Nen Hit String Snapped at 20 The streak has been snapped. Dick Nen failed to get a hit in today's game against the Mounties and his 20-game hitting spree has come to an end. The 24-year-old Hawaii first baseman was 0-for-3, but the Islanders got the win and defeated the Mounties 9-6.
"I'm not disappointed at all; I had a great run," Nen said. "It was fun. I got to 20 games. I got my name into an elite group with a bunch of good ballplayers."
For the season, Nen is hitting at a .351 clip with 32 home runs, 83 RBIs and has scored 90 runs. He has 155 hits, 93 walks and a .461 on-base percentage. |  | Tuesday, August 18th, 1964: Nen Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Hawaii first baseman Dick Nen has extended his hitting streak to 20 straight games with a 2-for-4 day. However, Vancouver got a 6-3 victory over the Islanders at Honolulu Stadium. D. Nen singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
So far in 1964, Nen is batting .354 with 32 home runs and 83 RBIs. |  | Thursday, August 6th, 1964: Virginians Stop Cater at 21 Danny Cater had his hitting streak snapped at 21 games today during a 6-4 Vancouver win over the Richmond Virginians at Capliano Stadium. The 24-year-old left fielder was hitless in 4 at-bats.
