Monday, April 19th, 1965: Wynn Wins AL Player of the Week Prize
It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the American, but last week Jimmy Wynn of the Cleveland Indians reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.

Wynn rocked opposing pitching for a .611 average (11-18), 5 home runs and 11 RBIs to come away with the award.

Wednesday, January 6th, 1965: Cleveland Inks Star 1B to $4,756,800 Deal
The Cleveland Indians have called a press conference later today to announce the signing of first baseman Sadaharu Oh to a 3-year, $4,756,800 contract.

Both Oh and the Indians are said to be very pleased to come to this agreement.

Friday, October 2nd, 1964: Indians Chill Tresh's Hot Streak
It was the best of both worlds for the Cleveland Indians today at Yankee Stadium I as they defeated the New York Yankees 7-5 and also ended Tom Tresh's 21-game hitting streak. The 27-year-old New York shortstop failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.

"Nothing personal against Tom, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Indians skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."

When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Tresh frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."

Currently Tresh is batting .289 with 28 home runs and 102 RBIs.
