Saturday, May 1st, 1965: Short Grabs AL Top Pitcher Trophy
Chris Short's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 3-0 in April, the 27-year-old Kansas City hurler has been named American Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 16 in 23.1 innings, logged an ERA of 1.54 and allowed opponents to hit .230 against him.

Monday, April 26th, 1965: Alou Agrees to Terms with Athletics
Reports began circulating several days ago that Matty Alou would re-sign with the Athletics, but didn't materialize until today when the club officially confirmed BNN's reports.

Details were sketchy, though Kansas City did say Alou would be with the club 3 years beyond his current deal.

To date this season Alou is hitting .240 with no home runs.
Wednesday, April 21st, 1965: Athletics Swap to Phillies for Short
Newspapers in Kansas City and Philadelphia reported that the Athletics have reached a deal sending nothing to the Phillies for 27-year old starting pitcher Chris Short.

Short has rolled up a 39-52 career record and he boasts a lifetime ERA of 4.34.
